When I heard I was selected, I was thrilled, not only because there was a group of people somewhere in the world that liked what I wrote, but because I could see myself in them. Continuance read what I wrote and understood what the project needed to move forward. They've provided me with guidance in a time where the entire film industry is re-inventing its self. I'm looking forward to working with this squad of like-minded artists I'm incredibly fortunate to have found.”

We are pleased to announce "AMERICAN DIABLO" written by Juan Castaneda is the selected winner of 2020 CONTINUE Short Film Initiative.
We are entering production for POC shoot with Human Pictures in mid-April in Miami starring Jimmy-Jean Louise and Stephanie Nogueras.
We were struck by how much the story popped off the page, and found ourselves drawn in not only by the setting and tone, but by the character of Anita, the protagonist. This was a deaf character that, quite unusually, was given the space to be strong-willed, complex, and a leading character in her own right. Between the story itself, the new approach with the writing and the fresh exploration of characters so often sidelined, we were hooked - and we were certain that we’d never read a story like this before.
We were thrilled how many quality scripts and writers got involved in last year's competition and we are looking forward to continually work with passionate and empowering story tellers out there.
We are therefore excited to announce the 2021 CONTINUE Short Film Initiative submission will open April 10th.

Last year’s Continue Initiative was a resounding success due to our ethos on nurturing new talent and our pragmatic, results-based focus. The three winners, chosen from hundreds of entrants, have either had their scripts shot already or are currently in development with Continuance Pictures:
Vincent Befi - SUBJECT
Vincent’s horror script was so compelling, producers David Gim & Tristan Barr flew over to LA to meet him, along with other potential candidates. Continuance ended up raising finance to shoot the feature in September 2019; it’s currently in post-production for a mid-2020 release.

This psychological, memory hijacking thriller by Australian screenwriter Caitlin Milne is being developed into a feature film.
Joel Fleming - TAKE OFF
Joel’s humanistic family Christmas drama is in the early development stage. Since its discovery we have been working with the filmmaker on TV pilot Welcome to Wrigleton and a web series C-Word (2020 Screen Australia development fund recipient) with creative producer Julie Eckersley (The Family Law, Glitch) and writer Roger Monk (Nowhere Boys, East of Everything and The Secret Life of Us).
2020 CONTINUE SHORT FILM INITIATIVE
We are excited to announce that the Continue Short Film Initiative is relaunching in February. Like last year, Continuance is offering $10,000USD for proof of concept spend. Once again, we have proudly partnered with Final Draft to provide winners with free copies of Final Draft 11, the pinnacle in screenwriting software. The Top 25 finalists will also receive one-on-one consultations with our development team, comprehensive feedback and a certified certificate.
The entry criteria is the same as last year. Simply submit your short film script along with a long form or feature script.
